I’m pretty happy with the work that has been gettin’ done around here! The weather has warmed up and so our outside productivity has risen substantially the past few weeks!
We’ve added more seeds and flowers to the garden…the majority are set to bloom in July and August to coincide with our blueberry season. Which, as you can see in some of the following pics, are flourishing and are about ready to pick!
We’ve added more outdoor “retreat” areas and have already taken to eating outside whenever possible…watching the FANTASTIC sunsets off our front yard. It truly feels like summer when the BBQ is smoking, lemonade is out in mason jars and you can smell the freshly cut grass. Sigh.
I guess it isn’t even technically summer yet, but man, the feelings are here!
Enjoy a peek at farm life entering summer…
The blueberries are coming!!
Lupines, peonies, gladiolas, yarrow, columbine, hollyhock, roses, zinnias, anemones and ranunculus have made their way into the garden via seeds, seedlings, plants and bulbs. It’s a learning process FOR SURE…but there has been fruit!
Dad’s patch-o’-veggies is thriving too!
These vintage chaise lounges were scored at a garage sale for…wait for it… $4 TOTAL.
Ready for many a backyard BBQ 🙂
Our kiwi bush is growing by the day! It’s taken over the side of the garage. Apparently, it makes great jelly!
Marionberries and fruit trees galore! We haven’t maintained these at all this year (pick your battles ya know), but they are still producing…so we are going to PICK-ING this summer.
The massive walnut tree is developing it’s fruit too…
I can’t tell you what joy it has given me to walk around the property and see things blooming that we had no idea were buried beneath the dirt. What pleasant surprises! And have you seen roses this neon color before!?
Anyone remember the picture of the fridge, toilet, garbage spilling out of our back door? This is that…but FINALLY cleared out! What a beautiful sight for our sore eyes.
Looking forward to filling in this area with a gorgeous garden sanctuary…
Our house is in the process of being painted as we speak and the inside is still coming together! Please feel free to make the trek (long for some of you…but I promise picturesque!) out to Washougal to say hi, pick berries and fruit, cut a bouquet and drink in the fresh air…we’d love to see you!
Perfect opportunity…our vintage sale coming up on the 25th! Hope to see you there!
