REPOST: Katie Kolbrick The Blueberry House IIII

April 7, 2017

Well, she’s done it again.  I keep thinking Luke and I can’t get MORE humbled by Katie and her incredible talent and gift of these photos…and then she goes and does THIS.  Ufta.

We had the pleasure of Katie’s visit a few weeks ago.  This was her 4th installment of her Blueberry House series.  Check out the past installments here.

Looking through these photos brings a flood of memories, a true sense of accomplishment and the thought “shoot! We didn’t quite get those baseboards finished!” Ah.  First world problems.

There is still lots of finishing and tinkering left to be done, some redecorating and adding, some internal updates and external revamps…but overall, we feel pretty darn good about what the house looks like now compared to January 2016.  Can you say, “toilet in the front yard” ?

Please enjoy these beautiful photos from the one and only, Katie Kolbrick.

THE BLUEBERRY FARM | MARCH

A few weeks ago I traveled down to Washougal to photograph the last (sniff) installment of a photo project created with Jordan and Luke. It has been such a blessing to visit them over the past 12 months. Every time I visit, I’m reminded of just how refreshing strong friendships can be. Even though we rarely talk outside of my visits (because #lifehappens), whenever we do catch up it is as if no time has passed. In recent years I’ve come to cherish these types of friendships, as it has become evident that they are few and far between.

What a treat to witness the change on their property in just one year! They went from true “fixer upper” status to living in a beautifully curated home on land brimming with promise of a bountiful summer. We spent the first half hour or so in their sitting room just catching up on life (which quickly became like a therapy session for all of us…in the best sense), while being bathed in the most glorious sunlight. Of course, once we were done shooting in the house and went to go outside we were greeted with plenty of rain. Ha! Such is life. It made for great images, though, and I’m very proud to share this last set with you.

In case you need a refresher, here are a few before/after pics to illustrate just how awesome Jordan and Luke are:

The last time I visited the farm, everything was just encased in a sheet of very thick ice. Jordan has been working hard to get her garden ready for spring and summer, and I cannot wait to see what she's able to harvest this year.

The top photo is from my very first session last February. The floors had already been done by the time I arrived, but I love how this space has come together with just a little bit of paint and some carefully curated statement pieces. Love this!

This is by far my favorite before & after comparison. Look at that kitchen space!! It's like something straight out of a magazine.

At some point, I plan on doing a post of all before and after pictures.  I know I want that all in one place for posterity.  There is something very special and important about reflecting back on where you’ve been and how far you’ve come.  It’s important and I WILL do it.

Right now, I just plan to enjoy Katie’s talent and take a big ol’ sigh of contentment.

If you ever find yourself in need of family, newborn, portrait or unique photography work, we can’t really recommend Katie enough.  Check her and her other works out here.

God bless you and the gift you are to Luke and I, Katie.  Please consider the farm your second home…come anytime.

xo Jordan
